Eight of Nine New Restaurants Use Healthier Cooking Oils

The Allegheny County Health Department today reported that 13 new food establishments opened in the County last month, including nine restaurants, a confectionary, a delicatessen, one grocery store and a beer distributor.
The Health Department’s monthly reports identify which new restaurants practice trans-fat free cooking, and eight out of the nine eateries opening last month cook with these healthier oils.
Restaurants employing trans-fat free cooking are Jim & Lou Lou’s, 2840 South Park Road, Bethel Park; 837 Grill, 917 Duquesne Boulevard, Duquesne; DiBella’s Subs, 9030 St. Simon Way, McCandless; Full Scale Catering, 7930 Frankstown Road, Wilkinsburg; Encore Pizzeria, 1705 Union Avenue, Harrison; Castle Tavern South, 6347 Library Road, South Park; York Buffet, 6302A Robinson Center Drive, Robinson; and BD’s Mongolian Grill, 428 South 27th Street, Southside.
An additional restaurant opened in January – East End Café, 7332 Penn Avenue, Point Breeze.
Four additional food establishments opened last month: Yo Place Frozen Yogurt, 1000 Ross Park Mall, K16C, Ross; Brookline Deli, 908 Brookline Boulevard, Brookline; Bottom Dollar Food, 1155 Washington Pike, Collier; and McNeilly Beer Six Packs And More, 441 McNeilly Road, Baldwin Township.
